Contextual Fit
Analysis & Design of Adding onto a prexisting building.
Project 2
In this project, I have been tasked to analyze the famous Smith House designed in 1965 by architect Richard Meier and add additions to it. I must introduce new ideas to satisfy the new requests of the family. Anything I add on must respect the original design of the building. The challenge of this project is to strike a balance between the new and old design.
Narrative
The Smith family want additions/extensions to be made for their house. The building right now lacks the space for their workout routine. The entire family wants an Exercise room. Both of the parents want a master suite so that they can have a place to relax in. As for individually, Mrs. Smith has also requested there to be a room that can be dedicated to family visits while Mr. Smith has asked for a rooftop BBQ space. It seems based on these requirements that the Smiths value fitness and social activities.
